Sometimes we get calls for honey bee hive removal. Honey bees are very beneficial to our environment and if possible we like to try to save the swarm. If the hive is inside a wall or some other inaccessable area we will be glad to treat it for you. But if the hive is in a tree or other easily accessable area we will probably recommend you call a beekeeper. Many times beekeepers are happy to remove the hive and relocate it. A list of swarm removal specialist can be found by checking the Lancaster County Honey Producers web site and clicking on swarm removal. A link to their web site is above. If you are not sure how to proceed, please give us a call and we will be happy to help you.

PREPARATION FOR A FLEA TREATMENT

Should be done before as close to treatment time as possible.
1. Thoroughly vacuum carpeting, baseboards and upholstered furniture and cushions. (Dispose of vacuum bag or empty canister outside of home.)
2. Mop or vacuum all hard surfaces/floors, any throw rugs should be washed in hot soapy water. Do not put back until after treatment.
3. If you are planning to have carpets cleaned, this should be done BEFORE the flea treatment to avoid removing the residual insecticide.
4. Cover any exposed food.
5. Pet(s) should have flea bath the SAME DAY OF SERVICE. Highly recommend ongoing monthly topical flea treatement such as Frontline or Advantage to eliminate further infestations.
6. Pet bedding should be laundered in hot soapy water or replaced (dispose of outside of home). Remove and wash pet's bowls and toys. Do not put back until after treatment.
7. Emply and wash out all litter boxes and DO NOT REFILL until treatment is complete.
8. Fish bowls and aquariums may remian if properly covered and air pumps left disconnected for at least three (3) hours after treatment.
9. If pets are allowed in bedroom and on the bed, these linens should be washed. Articles from under bed should be placed on top of bed and closet floors vacuumed and free of boxes, shoes, etc. Since fleas live in the carpet, getting as much exposed floor space as possible will contribute to a sucessful treatment.
10. If pet spends time in garage, clean the garage and sweep or hose down concrete floor. Same goes for basement especially if unfinished.
11. Vacuum car if pet rides in it.
12. Owners and pet(s) should remain away from home approximately six (6) hours after treatment. Owner may return home 2-3 hours after treatment to ventilate (open or crack windows) then leave again. An odor may linger, this will diminish and is not harmful.
13. Since fleas have a life cycle of 30 days, you will continue to see fleas several weeks after treatment, however newly emerged fleas will be eliminated as they hatch and contact the residual insecticide that was aplied to the carpeting & floors.
14. VERY IMPORTANT and one of the best things you can do is to resume normal vacuuming the day after treatment and daily vacuuming is highly recommended for several weeks after treatment to reduce flea population. Dispose of bag or empty canister outside of home to eliminate reinfestation.

PREPARATION FOR TREATMENT OF ROACHES

Please make sure all items are completed before your scheduled appointment.
1. Empty all cupboards and drawers in kitchen where food, dishes or pots and pans are stored. Any shelf paper should also be removed. Dishes may be placed on kithen table if covered. Place any food such as butter or meat in refrigerator.
2. Have kitchen sink and stove area cleared and cleaned. Very Important! Roaches love food debris and grease.
3. Clean and wash all kitchen cupboards before service. DO NOT wash treated areas for 25 to 30 days becuase this will remove the residual pesticide. You can replace clean shelf paper or wipe with a clean DRY cloth before replacing glasses, dishes, or food 3 to 4 hours after treatment.
4. Empty bathroom linen closet, cabinets and medicine chests of all personal items such as medicines, shavers and toothbrushes. Place in plastic bags and remove from bathroom.
5. For heavy infestation, remove all bedroom drawers from bureaus. Drawers may be placed on bed and covered with plastic or a sheet.
6. Fish tanks must be covered and their air pumps left disconnected for at least three (3) hours after treatment or until you are allowed to go back into the residence.

After treatment all people and pets must stay out of residence for a period of three (3) to four (4) hours. DO NOT go back in before 3 hours is up.

After a treatment you will see more roach activity for about a week. This is normal becuase the fogging agent is forcing the roaches out of hiding. Roach activity should decrease after this period. We ask that you allow THREE WEEKS (3) for best results. Our residual pesticide stays active for 25 to 30 days. We recommend having a follow-up service done in approximately three (3) weeks.
